Job Families and Job Descriptions
The Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools (FCSS) categorizes employment positions into 15 different job families. This framework is a structure designed to group jobs by the nature of the work. The definition of a job family is a grouping of jobs related by common vocations/professions and identifies paths of job progression for employees interested in improving their opportunities for career advancement and increasing compensation.
Job descriptions are contained within each job family. Each job description generally includes the purpose, essential duties, responsibilities, scope and working conditions of a job, along with the job title and the name or designation of the person to whom the employee reports.
