Fingerprint Consortium

The Fresno County Superintendent of Schools (“FCSS”) operates a Fingerprinting Consortium, list of parties, providing services to over 30 agencies within Fresno County including school districts, charter schools and public entities. Our staff is certified by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) to provide live scan fingerprinting services. We assist employers in obtaining employment clearance.

The California Department of Justice provides an automated service for criminal history background checks. All fingerprint records are digitally scanned and electronically transmitted to DOJ. Normal processing time takes two to three days however some requests may be delayed up to thirty days. California law prohibits confidential criminal history information to be shared between agencies. Therefore, applicants may be required to re-fingerprint for each agency.

Our live scan fingerprinting services enable school employers and state regulatory agencies, such as the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), to obtain legally required criminal record summary for persons seeking appointment to school positions, volunteer assignments or applying for teaching credentials.

Live Scan Appointments

FCSS Live Scan Fingerprinting services are available by appointment only, Monday - Friday 8am to 3:30pm, excluding holidays.

• School District Applicants: Districts participating in the FCSS Fingerprinting Consortium will schedule their prospective employees and volunteers for live scan appointments using an internal electronic appointment system.
• Credential Applicants: Credential applicants including those seeking a substitute teaching credential, license or permit issued by the CCTC visit the Credentials Fingerprinting website for more information. CCTC fingerprint differ from district employment fingerprints. 

Required Documentation

The following items are required at the time of appointment with FCSS:

• Request for Live Scan Service Form (provided by district employer or Credentials staff)
• Valid Photo Identification (Driver License, Identification Card, Passport)
• CTC Fingerprints are now payable via credit card or debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard symbols
• CTC Fingerprint Fee - $70.00
